Quran is a lively book that guides human beings to the straight path giving real-life examples. Therefore, Allah has mentioned 6 fruits in the Holy Quran around 44 different places.
Dates ?
There is no fruit that has been emphasized by Allah than dates. The date ? as a fruit has been mentioned in the Holy Quran 22 times at different places.
“And shake toward you the trunk of the palm tree; it will drop upon you ripe, fresh dates” – Maryam 19:25
“And We have sent down blessed rain from the sky and made grow thereby gardens and grain from the harvest, And lofty palm trees having fruit arranged in layers” – Qaf 50:9-10
The date is often underestimated because of its size. Yet, it is a super-food having various health benefits which range from improved gut health to improved nervous system.
It is rich in fiber, proteins, and vitamins. Eating dates reduce the risk of a heart attack. Being rich in natural sugars, it is a healthy energy booster.
Grapes ?
Grapes ? as fruits have been mentioned in the Holy Quran 11 times in different places. In one of the mentions, Allah says:
Give them ˹O Prophet˺ an example of two men. To ˹the disbelieving˺ one We gave two gardens of grapevines, which We surrounded with palm trees and placed ˹various˺ crops in between. – Al-Kahf 18:32
Grapes are not only a treat to the mouth, but also serve various health benefits. Grapes induce hydration, help overcome iron and mineral deficiencies and improve the digestive system.
Grapes are also beneficial in regulating iron and sugar levels in the body. Eating grapes is also helpful for livers and kidneys. Grapes are also rich in copper, iron, and manganese.
Olives
The fruit olive has been mentioned 6 times in the Holy Quran in different places, the most after dates and grapes. It is also a fruit of the middle east as it is commonly grown there.
“And (We produced) a tree (of olive) that comes forth from the (mount) Tūr of Sinai, which grows with oil and with a dressing for those who eat”. – Al-Mu’minun 23:20
Eating olives is considered one of the healthy eating habits as it is beneficial for the heart and gut. Olives are rich in phenolic compounds like hydroxytyrosol, which improve blood flow and improve calcium deposition.
Pomegranate
The mouthwatering pomegranate fruit has been mentioned in the Holy Quran 3 times in different places. In Quran, Allah says:
“And besides these two [gardens in Heaven], there are two other gardens (for the second category of the God-fearing)…So, which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? – both (gardens are) dark green! So, which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? In both, two springs are gushing forth profusely. So, which of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? In both, there are fruits and date-palms and pomegranates” – Ar-Rahman 55:62-68
Pomegranates have various health benefits. It is a source of antibacterial and antivirus. Eating pomegranate helps improve oral health. The fruit is also found beneficial for improving blood flow and thus improving heart health.
Banana ?
Banana ? is also among the fruits of paradise. Although it is among the most common fruits available in different countries and across the year, it is among the most healthy fruits. There is a mention of the Banana fruit in the Holy Quran in the following words:
“And the People of the right? How (lucky) are the People of the Right? (They will be) amid lote-trees with no thorns, and the trees of TalH, (banana, or a fragrant tree) having layers one upon the other, and a shade, spread all over.” – Al-Waqi’ah 56:27-30
Figs
There is a Surah in the Holy Quran named At-Tin, which means figs. In Quran, Allah has mentioned the fruit figs in the following words
“I swear by the Fig and the Olive, and by Tūr, the mount of Sinai, and by this peaceful city, We have created man in the best composition” – At-Tin 95:1-4
Figs are rich in fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Thus eating figs will help maintain a healthy digestive system. Eating figs also helps reduce cholesterol levels.
